In this privacy policy, we, the dental practice Dr. med. dent. Markus Mettler (hereinafter, we or us), explain how we collect and otherwise process personal data. This is not a conclusive description; other privacy policies may regulate specific issues. Personal data is understood to mean all information relating to a specific or identifiable person.

If you provide us with personal data of other persons (e.g., family members, employees), please ensure that these persons are aware of this privacy policy and only share their personal data with us if you are allowed to do so and if this personal data is correct.

This privacy policy is designed to meet the requirements of the Swiss Federal Data Protection Act.

COLLECTION AND PROCESSING OF PERSONAL DATA

We primarily process personal data (i) of website visitors (esp. potential patients or patients), (ii) service providers and business partners and employees of our service providers and business partners. We process personal data that you provide to us directly, and - as far as permitted - we obtain certain data from publicly accessible sources (e.g., the Internet) or receive such data from authorities and other third parties (such as address information). In addition to the data from you that you give us directly, the categories of personal data that we receive from third parties about you include, in particular, information from public registers, information that we learn in connection with official and judicial proceedings, information in connection with your professional functions and activities (so that we can, for example, conclude and process business with your employer with your help), information about you in correspondence and meetings with third parties, credit reports (insofar as we do business with you personally), information on compliance with legal requirements, information from banks, insurance companies, distribution and other contractual partners of us for the use or provision of services.

PURPOSES OF PROCESSING

We primarily process personal data of website visitors as well as service providers and business partners and their employees in connection with their inquiries and for the conclusion and processing of contracts concluded with them.

When you contact us by email or via a contact form, the data you provide (your email address, possibly your name and telephone number) is stored by us to answer your questions.

Furthermore, we need your personal data, in particular to fulfill legal obligations and to safeguard our rights. We may then use your personal data in connection with the purchase and sale of business areas or parts and other corporate transactions and the associated transfers of personal data.

Cookies

When using our website, cookies are stored on your computer. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your hard drive and assigned to the browser you are using, and through which certain information flows to the site that sets the cookie. Cookies cannot run programs or transmit viruses to your computer. They serve to make the Internet offer more user-friendly and effective overall. Cookies can be managed and thus also deactivated. If cookies are deactivated, however, the website may no longer be functional.

This website uses the following types of cookies, the scope and functionality of which are explained below:

• Transient cookies (see a.)
• Persistent cookies (see b.).

a. Transient cookies are automatically deleted when you close the browser. This includes in particular session cookies. These store a so-called session ID, with which various requests from your browser can be assigned to the common session. This allows your computer to be recognized when you return to our website. The session cookies are deleted when you log out or close the browser.

b. Persistent cookies are automatically deleted after a specified duration, which can vary depending on the cookie. You can delete the cookies in the security settings of your browser at any time.

c.  You can configure your browser setting according to your wishes and e.g. reject the acceptance of third-party cookies or all cookies. So-called “Third Party Cookies” are cookies that have been set by a third party, consequently not by the actual website you are currently on. We would like to point out that by deactivating cookies you may not be able to use all functions of this website.

d. The used Flash cookies are not recorded by your browser, but by your Flash plug-in. Furthermore, we use HTML5 storage objects that are stored on your end device. These objects store the required data regardless of your used browser and do not have an automatic expiration date. If you do not want the Flash cookies to be processed, you must install a corresponding add-on, e.g. “Better Privacy” for Mozilla Firefox (https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/betterprivacy/) or the Adobe-Flash-Killer-Cookie for Google Chrome. You can prevent the use of HTML5 storage objects by using the private mode in your browser. In addition, we recommend regularly deleting your cookies and browser history manually.

CATEGORIES OF PROCESSED PERSONAL DATA

Website visitors: When merely using the website for information purposes, i.e. if you do not register or otherwise provide us with information, we only collect the personal data that your browser transmits to our server. If you want to view our website, we collect the following data, which is technically necessary for us to display our website to you and to ensure stability and security:

• IP-address
• Date and time of the request
• Time zone difference to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)
• Content of the request (concrete page)
• Access status/HTTP status code
• Each transmitted amount of data
• Website from which the request comes
• Browser
• Operating system and its interface
• Language and version of the browser software.

In addition to the purely informational use of our website, we offer various services that you can use if you are interested. To do this, you usually have to provide additional personal data that we use to provide the respective service.

Service providers and business partners and their employees: Contact information, possibly identification data and information about the business position.

DATA DISCLOSURE AND DATA TRANSFER ABROAD

As part of our business activities and for the purposes, as far as permitted and as it appears to us as indicated, we also disclose personal data to third parties, either because they process it for us, or because they use it for their own purposes. This is particularly about the following places:

• Service providers of us, including processors (such as IT providers);
• Dealers, suppliers, subcontractors and other business partners;
• Domestic and (possibly/exceptionally) foreign authorities, offices, insurance companies or courts;
• Other parties in possible or actual legal proceedings;

all common recipients.

These recipients are usually domestic. Exceptionally, they can also be anywhere on earth.

If a recipient is in a country without adequate legal data protection, we contractually oblige the recipient to comply with applicable data protection (for this we use the revised standard contractual clauses of the European Commission, which are available here: eur-lex.europa.eu/eli/dec_impl/2021/914/oj? together with the Swiss-specific adjustments), as far as he is not already subject to a legally recognized set of rules to ensure data protection and we cannot rely on an exception provision. 

Integration of Openstreetmap

A map with the location of our dental practice is embedded on this website. This map uses the data from Open Street Map, a free project with the purpose of collecting freely usable geodata and keeping it available for use by everyone in a database (Open Data).

In order for the map to be displayed to you, information about the use of this website including your IP address is forwarded to Open¬Street¬Map. These services are operated by the Open¬Street¬Map Foundation (OS¬MF), 132 Ma¬ney Hill Road, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, B72 1JU, United Kingdom, for the OSM¬community. In order for the map to be displayed to you, information about the use of the OSM services is forwarded to Open¬Street¬Map. In addition, a so-called session¬cookie is stored on the visitor’s computer. Details can be found in the “Cookies” section. Children

Our offer is generally aimed at adults. Persons under 18 years of age should not transmit any personal data to us without the consent of their parents or legal guardians.

Changes

We can adjust this privacy policy at any time without prior notice. The version currently published on our website applies. Insofar as the privacy policy is part of an agreement with you, we will inform you of the change by e-mail or in another suitable manner in the event of an update.
